A world moving forward is not always a world moving closer to God. In this next message from our series “Life, the Universe and Everything” Pastor Adam Sculnick opens Genesis 4:17-26 to trace the generations after Cain… and the spread of sin through a growing civilization. Cities are built. Music develops. Tools are forged. But alongside humanity’s accomplishments, rebellion deepens. Lamech takes two wives and boasts about killing a man, turning violence into something to celebrate. Human achievement has not cured the human heart. This is how it goes when sin is left unchecked: what one generation practices, the next can take even further. This is exactly what our modern society looks like, and it should come as no surprise. But the chapter does not end with violence having the final word. God gives Adam and Eve another son, Seth. And in the days of Seth’s son Enosh, people begin to call upon the name of the Lord. HOW IT GOES | Genesis 4:17-26
Sin does not stay contained. Its consequences reach beyond us. In this hard hitting message from Life, the Universe and Everything, Pastor Adam Sculnick opens Genesis 4:8–16 to confront the devastating reality of humanity’s first murder; and the God who will not ignore it. Cain kills his brother Abel. When God confronts him, Cain denies responsibility. But the blood cries out, and God answers with judgment. DEATH AND ITS CONSEQUENCES | Genesis 4:8-16
What always happens when sin is left unchecked? In Genesis 4:1-7, the first family after Eden discovers that the fall does not stay private, it moves from wounded worship, to anger, to rivalry, and finally toward violence. Cain and Abel both come before God with offerings, but their different responses to God’s evaluation expose what is happening beneath the surface. Abel approaches God in faith. Cain becomes angry when he does not receive the response he wanted. Before Cain acts, God meets him with a warning: if you do good, you'll be lifted up, but if not, watch out! This message explores the pattern that still repeats in our homes, relationships, workplaces, churches, and hearts: -Unchecked disappointment becomes anger -Anger becomes resentment -Resentment looks for someone to blame Sin always seeks to master us, but God meets us with both warning and mercy before sin takes us further. God’s question to Cain is still confronting us: Will we let sin rule us, or will we turn to God and do what is right? WHAT ALWAYS HAPPENS | Genesis 4:1-7

A NEW NORMAL | Genesis 3:14-24
